Theme. Mapping technical practical activities in Malakal
Mapping technical practical work-shops activities in Malakal is to survey and allocate the craft trade activities being practice out in the various craft trades in the work-shops, and Find the capacity of the activities and availability of competent the practitioner are practicing, and the types of tools and materials they are using as a of knowledge and skills practice in their various workshops.
The aim of this study, is to program and build-up a new knowledge which can support our future Education system with skills, knowledge and experience of technical Vocational practices.
objectives is to find the following
Identify technical practical activities in Malakal. Find out the different approach used to facilitate learning in technical vocational education. Identify the possible training and work opportunity at workshops
Research method
The suitable research method used includes: Observation, visiting the site and observe what is happing at the workshops or site work. Conversation, talk to the manager or staff to get what they are doing.
Oral questions, ask to find what is known and to be known. Written documentation, write down what is most difficult to keep in memory for documentation for later use.
Research tools
These research tools includes. Documentation, writing down the main points from the practitioner.
Photos, taking photography during the conversation of the oral interviews. Videos, taking films to satisfy the reader of the findings. Sound recorder, for documenting statements extracted from recorded oral interviews.
Data analysis
Is a practice in which raw data is ordered and organized so that useful information can be extracted from it or is the process of organizing and thinking about data as a key to understanding what the data does and does not contain,
My findings in this research were three different craft workshops for carpentry and Joinery, Building and construction, Electrical and Insulation. This findings made me to think, how shall i overcome the challenges and improve on my practice as a carpenter.
